"Come to My Garden" and "Seeing Double"

Sorry I didn't get to post eyebrows yesterday.  We got home from the doctor quite late and I just wanted to go to bed.  So you get a double dose today!!!!  I'm going to call yesterday's eyebrows...."Come to My Garden."  Here was my inspiration:

And here's the result:

The surgeon enjoyed them....I think.  She's a really serious and intimidating lady so it was kind of hard to tell.  Someone else at the hospital thought that I had tattooed them on and was so happy when I told her that I just drew them on.  Anyway, here was the inspiration for today's brows:

Now, as much as I wanted to do all the accessories and the rest of the makeup, I did not have the time nor the supplies to do so, so you'll just have to settle with what I did do:

I'm going to call it "Seeing Double."  Enjoy and watch for tomorrow's brows.  Oh, also, good news, the surgeon said I no longer have to be on that "light chemo" that is doing this to my eyebrows, so they should be growing back soon.  Yay!!!

360 Degree Eyebrows or Raccoon?

Today's eyebrows were inspired by Emery, my daughter.  She asked me why eyebrows don't go all the way around our eyes, and I told her that I don't know.  So I drew my eyebrows all the way around my eyes.  It didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, because it's just too hard to make it look like there's hair there when there just isn't.....they kinda make me look more like a raccoon than anything.  Here they are anyway!  I also may or may not look super freaking tired in that picture.  I'm not really sure why cause I actually got a good night's sleep last night for once.  Oh well.

Captain Crunch

So I took a long weekend.  I needed a couple of days of no makeup at all.  Last week was a rough week for me and Papa Bear (Jake) with him working seventy-two hours last week.... :S  Anywho, I'm ba-ack!!  Today I did cartoon eyebrows.  One of my inspirations was this...

As much as I wanted to get my eyebrows all the way onto a hat....I didn't even try, but I got them pretty high!  I'm sure the sister missionaries really enjoyed them when they came over to teach me a lesson. :)  Tomorrow's brows.....360!!!!

Yellow Brick Road

Today, I was lazy.  I just did scarecrow eyebrows.  I wanted to do the whole deal with the nose and everything, but I ended up washing them off before I remembered to put the nose on....here was my inspiration....

This is what they turned out looking like....

Haven't decided what tomorrow's brows will be.  It's a surprise for everyone!!!  Yay!!!

Displaced Facial Hair

Here are today's brows.  I'm going to go with "Displaced Facial Hair."  I went to Walmart today, and a random lady actually asked me about my eyebrows.  I feel bad because I gave her the short story, which is that I'm on chemo and lost my eyebrows so I just draw whatever eyebrows I want on everyday.  I didn't want to sit there and explain that it's not really cancer and that it's just light chemo, and that I'm not going to die etc....But she said that she was really sorry and that she would pray for me.  It made me feel even worse because she doesn't need to pray for me.  We should all be praying for people with real cancer who are going through real chemo. Next time, even if it's awkward and time consuming, I'll make sure I give the long explanation so that I don't get any undeserved pity.  I'm fine.  I'm blessed.  I'm happy.

Heart Attack

So this one goes out to all my medical school/medically-minded friends!  Now, even though Jake says he has a problem with one of my "PR intervals"...this still took me like a freaking hour to draw.  What with dull eyebrow pencils that kept breaking as I tried to sharpen them, and the fact that my first attempt was backwards because I drew it on while looking at my reflection in the mirror...somehow I got it done!  Anyway, I hope you enjoy!  This is definitely one of my masterpieces.

Pointillism

And.....we're back!  So this was my best attempt at "Pointillism" eyebrows.  As you can see in many of my photos, my reddish rash on my face has not gone entirely away, so I apologize for that.  Nothing really exciting happened today with my eyebrows.  Just went to our new library....can't wait until I figure out what eyebrows I'm going to do tomorrow!

"I have a fish hook in my eyebrow, and I like it."

Today's eyebrows were inspired by one of my most favorite shows, Friends.  They're called, "I have a fish hook in my eyebrow, and I like it." -Joey  Here are the pictures I took my inspiration from....

and last but not least....

Here's what I came up with.  The people at the doctor's office didn't even flinch....but the missionaries enjoyed them. :)

Tomorrow's eyebrows are going to have to be normal because I'm headed to do baptisms at the temple.  I'm thinking that it might distract from the spirit if I show off my sweet eyebrow designs, especially because everyone will just be so dang jealous of them.  Same situation with church on Sundays, SO!  I'll see you on Monday with some more fantastic eyebrow designs!  We'll see what crazy design I come up with next!

Bert

So I recall someone requesting "drag queen" eyebrows, and I was totally going to do that, but then I realized I wouldn't be able to do them justice without the rest of the fantastic makeup to accompany them. So that will have to wait for another day.  So instead, today, I decided to do Bert eyebrows, in honor of Bert from Sesame Street of course, but also in honor of my very own nickname, Bert.  It is not a nickname I enjoy though, so use it cautiously. They didn't turn out terribly awesome (you'd be surprised how hard it is to draw a thick, straight line over your brow, or maybe I'm just that unskilled), but I did go to quite a few places today, such as storytime at the library, Meijer, Lowe's, and Papa Murphy's.  I think I might have scared a couple of little girls at Papa Murphy's though.  Not my intent.... :S Brielle also did her own eyebrows today too. Hers turned out more like Groucho Marx because she used mascara to do it.  But by the time I realized I should take a picture of them, they were mostly rubbed off.  So sorry you didn't get to see her awesome makeup skills.  Anyway, here comes Bert.

"Lazy"

So....I got a little overwhelmed today with all the stuff I have to get done this week.  So today, even though there were some great suggestions for eyebrows from many of you, I decided to just be lazy.  As effortless as I make my eyebrows look to put on, they actually tend to be quite time consuming!  Here is my eyebrow design for today, entitled, "Lazy." The only people who had the privilege of seeing me with these are a couple of our neighbors, an AT&T door-to-door salesman (didn't know they had those!), and of course my children and husband (he loves my eyebrow designs, let me tell ya!).  Actually, Emery said that she really liked my eyebrows today.  That's a first!  So at least someone approves!  Tomorrow we have storytime at the library.  That's going to be fun! :)  We'll see what design tomorrow brings!!!

"Jagged Metal" or "Avada Kedavra"

So sorry that I haven't posted in a couple of days.  I've been moving and have been really busy.  But I'm back!!!  Today's design was inspired by Strongbad, again, as were "Big Ol' Eyebrows."  I can't decide on a name for it, it's between "Avada Kedavra" and "Jagged Metal."

Anywho, enjoy!  I'm holding a vote on Facebook for what eyebrow design I'll do tomorrow.

Eyebrows by Chemo - "Frida Kahlo"

So today's eyebrows are brought to you by my high school Spanish teacher, Señora Álvarez, and my good buddy, Karina.  Karina requested a unibrow design, and I remembered the beautiful artwork that   Señora Álvarez so lovingly taught us about in Spanish I of one, Frida Kahlo.  Here is said artwork (hopefully, I came close to matching her beauty):

Here's my version.  In hindsight, I realize I really should have tried to recreate the whole painting itself, but I don't have a cat or a monkey, so this will have to do...

Brielle was jealous and decided to be Frida Kahlo today too.

Oh yeah, and I did go to Walmart to pick my prescription.  Still no pointing and laughing, so the adventure continues!

Can't say what tomorrow's design is gonna be, but it's definitely going to be "electrifying!!"

Eyebrows by Chemo - "Big Ol' Eyebrows"

Today's design is "Big Ol' Eyebrows"

Emery did not appreciate this eyebrow design.  She told me multiple times that I had "monster eyebrows" and that she didn't like them one bit.  Here's her reaction when she first saw them (I don't think she knew what to say or do):

Then I realized, "What's the fun of this if I just stay home all day and don't go anywhere?!"  So we went to a couple of our favorite places.

Me at the park...

Me at the library....

And I promise I didn't put my sunglasses down over my eyes even once.  We got a couple of strange looks, but no little kids pointed and laughed, so I don't think my job is done yet!  Tomorrow I have to go to the grocery store and get gas, but I don't know what design I will use yet.  I do have "Frida Kahlo" eyebrows on the list though.  Stay tuned!

Eyebrows by Chemo

So as many of you may know, I have a relatively benign desmoid tumor in my right thigh.  For clarification, it will not spread to any other parts of my body and kill me, but it might take over my leg and cause it to have to eventually be amputated.  So it's a serious problem, but not deadly serious.

Anyway, I'm currently on a dose of sorafenib or (light chemo) to treat my tumor and have been for about six months.  The side effects have not been pleasant and include a bumpy, sunburn-like rash all over my body (especially my face), hoarseness, hair lightening, alopecia (hair loss), diarrhea, vomiting, and high blood pressure.  Fortunately, I have not suffered from the last three, but I have had a bout with the first four, especially for the first couple months of being on the medication.  Most of the side effects have subsided by now, but I'm still left with a hoarse voice, a third of the head hair I used to have, and no eyebrows.

For a while I was embarrassed about my non-eyebrow situation and did my best to draw on fake ones, which hasn't been too bad.  Most people can't tell the difference, but when I wash my face at night and look up into the mirror, I'm always a bit shocked and saddened at the face staring back at me.

It's been a trial in my life and something that's taken a while to get used to.  However, I've finally decided that I don't want to just deal with this issue anymore, but rather have fun with it!  I always said that if I ended up having to shave my head from excessive hair-loss that I would wear super awesome wigs,  like afros and Cher wigs!  Now I have said an opportunity!  I have a completely blank canvas on which to be creative, but instead of that canvas being my head, it's my brow!  Hence, "Eyebrows by Chemo" began!

Here's me with my normal eyebrows drawn on for comparison.

Here's me without having drawn on any eyebrows. (Scary right?!)

And on Day #1, I present to you what I call "The Tweezer-Happy Latina."
